The Fog of War film analyzes McNamara's controversial decisions during the first half of the Vietnam War, but also his childhood upbringing, his education at Berkeley and Harvard, his involvement in World War II, and his later years as president of the World Bank.

Eleven Lessons

Lesson #1: Empathize with your enemy

Lesson #2: Rationality alone will not save us.

Lesson #3: There’s something beyond one’s self.

Lesson #4: Maximize efficiency

Lesson #5: Proportionality should be a guideline in war

Lesson #6: Get the Data

Lesson #7: Belief and seeing are both often wrong

Lesson #8: Be prepared to re-examine your reasoning

Lesson #9: In order to do well, you may have to engage in evil.

Lesson #10: Never say never

Lesson #11: You can’t change human nature.

Questions

#1 The most striking point to me is when mcnamara refused to speak out about the war after he resigned. I remember this part because of his quote that he is damned if he does and damned if he does not, but he would rather be damned if he does not. This quote is true, it would be worse if he spoke out against the war.

#2 I think the most interesting part is when Mcnamara says you cant change human nature, war will keep happening which I agree with because men can never live peacefully, they always want to have more power, money, and more land so until the greed stops war will most likely never end and eventually, it will get so deadly it will start wiping out massive amounts of people.

#3 my favorite of the eleven lessons is lesson #1, lesson #9. I like these lessons because they are exactly what need to know and what does happen in war. The lessons I disliked the most is lesson #7 because if you saw what happened in Vietnam correctly he would have figured out it was just a civil war. I think lesson #11 was most important to the 21st century because if human nature doesn't change there’s going to be more wars in the 21st century so I think it's important to change our ways before it's too late.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/03/us/boston-marathon-terror-attack-fast-facts/index.html?iref=allsearch

Here is a look at what you need to know about the Boston Marathon terror attack. On April 15, 2013, double bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killed three people and injured at least 264.
Victims:
Martin Richard, 8, a student at Neighborhood House Charter School in Boston.

Krystle Campbell, 29, of Medford, Massachusetts.

Lingzi Lu, a graduate student at Boston University. She was originally from China.

Other Facts:
The bombs exploded 12 seconds apart near the marathon's finish line on Boylston Street.

According to Richard DesLauriers, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Boston office, the bombs contained BB-like pellets and nails.

One of the bombs was contained in a pressure cooker, hidden inside a black backpack, according to the FBI.

The FBI says that the second bomb was also in a metal container, but they haven't yet determined if it was also in a pressure cooker.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a warning in 2004 about pressure cooker bombs. Instructions for making this type of explosive are widely available on the Internet.

Timeline:
April 15, 2013 - At approximately 2:50pm, two bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The bombs explode within 8-12 seconds of each other, about 50-100 yards apart.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac announces that federal authorities have imposed temporarily flight restrictions over central Boston. The restrictions bar air traffic below 3,000 feet for two nautical miles around the bombing site (reduced from three) and do not affect commercial air traffic at the city's international airport.

At 6:10pm, President Barack Obama speaks to reporters at the White House, "We will find out who did this. We'll find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice."

April 16, 2013 - President Obama, speaking at the White House at 11:30 am, describes the bombings as an act of terrorism.

Frederic Wittman, chairman of the board of trustees of the Neighborhood House Charter School in Boston, confirms that one of the people killed is 8-year-old Martin Richard. Richard's sister and mother are hospitalized with serious injuries.

Michael McGlynn, mayor of Medford, Massachusetts confirms that one of the people killed in the attack is 29-year-old Krystle Campbell.

April 22, 2013 -
Tsarnaev is charged by the U.S. government with one count of using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction resulting in death and one count of malicious destruction of property by means of an explosive device resulting in death.

It is crazy thing that has happened in Boston, a bombing is very scary. Only 3 people were seriously hurt when it couldve beem way worse. Many more people couldve been killed but luckily werent.

Honduras, the country with the world's highest murder rate, is backing proposed talks between its two most violent gangs in search of a truce. The Mara Salvatrucha and Calle 18 gangs already reached a truce in neighboring El Salvador, and officials there claim the murder rate has dropped dramatically.

Honduran leaders hope for the same.

The two gangs were slated to give separate statements from a prison in San Pedro Sula on Tuesday, announcing the talks and asking forgiveness from the public for the violence.

The bishop of San Pedro Sula, Romulo Emiliani, first revealed the upcoming talks a week ago, and on Monday, Honduran President Porfirio Lobo gave the government's backing.

"They want a type of reconciliation with society, trying to change their way of life," Emiliani said, according to the newspaper La Prensa. "Then there is a possibility of a truce -- not today, because nothing is being signed today. They are talking about further ahead, depending on certain factors there may be a truce between the two gangs."

I think that it would be great if the two gangs have a truce in the future. Gangs are dangerous and cause many deaths around the world, and maybe having two truce can lead to more. Its great to see stuff like this happening in our world, rather than guns being shot and people being killed.

Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher (13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013), was a British politician, the longest-serving (1979–1990) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century, and the only woman to have held the post.  A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname which became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism. Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election and became Leader of the Opposition, as well as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became Prime Minister after winning the 1979 general election.
I think that Margerat Thatcher had alot of accomplishments during her life time by the sounds of it. Being prime minister and creating her own policies some of many things that she accomplished to be proud of.

After weeks of hurling threats at the United States and its allies, North Korea announced Tuesday it will restart a nuclear reactor it had shut more than five years ago. The declaration demonstrates Kim Jong Un's commitment to the country's nuclear weapons program that the international community has tried without success to persuade it to abandon.

The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the reclusive state's atomic energy department intends to "readjust and restart all the nuclear facilities" at its main nuclear complex, in Yongbyon.

Those facilities include a uranium enrichment facility and a reactor that was "mothballed and disabled" under an agreement reached in October 2007 during talks among North Korea, the United States and four other nations, KCNA said.

The announcement was followed by a plea for calm from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who is himself South Korean. He said he was "deeply troubled."

I think that North Korea poses barely any harm to the United States. The United States is way bigger than North Korea in land size, and their military is far more superior to North Korea’s. The United States has nuclear warfare far greater, and also a much more advanced and larger army. North Korea has no allies other than Russia, because China associates with the United States, and China doesn’t want any trade in sanctions with them. Because of the size the United States, I don’t see why North Korea would even try and engage in any warfare with the U.S. at all. I believe that North Korea is going crazy, want to justify their existence and are not really thinking of what the consequences would be if they attacked the United States.  North Korean leader is trying to rally up all the people because he is in a power struggle right now, and thinks all this commotion will help him.

According to the Mississippi Legislature's web site, Upshaw, 53, was a Republican.

She served District 95 in the Mississippi House of Representatives, which covered Hancock and Harrison counties.

"It appeared she had a gunshot wound to her head; it appeared to be self inflicted," said Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis. "Her body was found at 901 Mangum Street."

"We arrived on the scene around 2 p.m. this afternoon (Sunday). We usually assist Mendenhall P. D.," Lewis added.

The house where Upshaw's body was found is located in the city limits of Mendenhall.

Multiple sources have told WLBT the house where Upshaw's body was found is the house of former Mississippi State Rep. Clint Rotenberry.

Lewis said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate because Upshaw was a State Representative.

Lewis added officials are awaiting the results of the State Crime Lab to determine Upshaw's cause of death.

I think this story is interesting because they have not found out the reasoning behind her sudden, schocking death. It is also a very tragic event because you hate to see it when anyone passes away. Hopefully they discover the reasoning behind why she has been shot, and killed.

Sweden's Princess Lilian, the Welsh-born model who lived with her lover Prince Bertil for 30 years before they were married, has died at the age of 97. "It is with sorrow that I have learnt that Her Royal Highness Princess Lilian is dead," Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said. "A much loved and appreciated member of the royal family has now passed away," he added.

Born in 1915 in Swansea, Wales, Lilian May Davies was a  model and married to British actor Ivan Craig when she first met Prince Bertil, the current king's uncle, in 1943.

Then engaged in wartime work making radios for the Royal Navy, she reportedly met Prince Bertil at a cocktail party for her 28th birthday. Reports about their first meeting vary, with some saying they met at a nightclub called Nuthouse while others that they met on the London Underground.

Looking at this article it is very important topic because someone very important has passed away. I think it is pretty amazing that she lived 97 years, which is quite the accomplishment. It is a very tragic event for the many people who surrounded her, and will be a huge loss to them. I also think it was cool that she lived with her lover for 30 years before they were married, thats something you dont see often.

A day after two parents were killed in a hit in run crash in New York, their child also was killed. Their son, a newborn child, survived for only one day after being removed from his dead mothers body in a cesarean section. Police have said that they are still in search of the occupants in the BMW vehicle that pulled this hit and run on Sunday morning. At the time of the crash, the Glaubers, who were both 21, were on their way to Long Island College Hospital. Police say that the BMW hit them at an intersection, and the occupants fled the scene on foot. Personally i think this is a very upsetting story, and a very tragic event.

In the article they explain how Lebron James has created a milestone. Lebron putting up "30 points and 60 percent shooting in six straight games" was sure a huge accomplishment in the basketball world which was a record. This story was interesting to me because i love sports, and seeing someone accomplish that was a shock. I think this article written on Lebron and the Miami Heat was written very well. It explained the accomplishments of Lebron, and also talked about the team and their recent success. The fact Lebron is setting records, just puts more proof behind the fact that he is the best basketball player in the world.
